  • Jetson and Raspberry Pi Camera on the bench

AI-Powered Assistive Device for the Visually Impaired

    In progress

A wearable vest that detects nearby objects and alerts the wearer before a collision.

    Details

    Purpose

A wearable vest that detects nearby objects and alerts the wearer before a collision.

    My Role

Team lead and hardware lead, sensor research, bring-up, and team documentation.

    Hardware and Demo

The hardware is a Jetson Orin Nano Super on JetPack 6.2 with a battery, camera, microphone, and speaker. The system includes a microphone path to a vision-language model for higher-level scene understanding and navigation. A rough, unoptimized detection and depth demo ran at about 13 FPS at 720p.

    Current Status

Hardware is complete. Vest integration is still in progress. Research prototype, not a medical device.

  • DE10-Standard FPGA board used for the traffic light controller

    FPGA Traffic Light Controller

    Complete

    A traffic-light program on a real DE10-Standard FPGA board.

    Details

    · Digital Systems Lab 6

A traffic-light program on a real DE10-Standard FPGA board. Digital Systems Lab 6. It runs a classroom light station for a highway facing one pair of lights and a farm road facing the other. I wrote it in VHDL, tested it in ModelSim, then loaded it onto the board. A knob on the box sets how fast the lights cycle.

The highway stays green until a sensor says a car is waiting on the farm road. Farm green is short. If cars are still waiting, the farm road gets extra time so a line can clear.

  • AutoCAD concept of the reusable water bottle cleaning station

    Reusable Water Bottle Cleaning Station

    Complete

This was a group project in freshman design at Villanova .

    Details

This was a group project in freshman design at Villanova. A team of five surveyed 25 students and designed a compact hallway station for rinsing reusable water bottles, meant to sit next to existing fill stations. Twenty carried a bottle. Only six of those cleaned it regularly. Dorm sinks are too shallow to rinse a bottle.

The bottle goes on upside down. Pressing down rinses it. A button adds soap. A shield keeps spray in the station. Lids stay at the sink. This was a concept and AutoCAD package, not a built prototype.
